Cruise ducks

Your cruise needs more ducks.

Hide ducks around the ship, make a stranger's whole vacation when they find one, and follow each duck long after you sail home. DuckTracks gives every duck a name, a story, and a QR code.

The tradition

If you haven't hidden a duck on a cruise yet, you're missing out

Bring rubber ducks on your cruise, hide them around the ship, and let other guests find them. They keep it, re-hide it, and the fun keeps going. DuckTracks takes it further: every duck gets a QR tag, so each finder reads your message, sees where the duck has been, and adds their own stop.

  • Fun for every ageKids, grandparents, and everyone in between love the hunt.
  • Hides anywherePool deck, hallways, restaurants, elevators, the theater, your cabin steward's towel animal.
  • Lives beyond your sailingTrack your duck across future sailings and wherever finders take it next.
  • Unforgettable for the finderA message from a stranger and a duck with a story make someone's day.

How it works

It's not just a duck. It's a story.

Name your duckScan its QR tag in the app and give it a name, a bio, and a photo. This is its origin story.
  2. 2
Leave a message and hide itWrite a personal note for whoever finds it, then hide it somewhere clever on the ship: the pool deck, a hallway, a restaurant, an elevator.
  3. 3
Someone finds and scans itThey read your message and see the duck's story: where it started, who hid it, and every stop since.
  4. 4
They add their stopThey log where they found it, leave a message and a photo for the next finder, and set it free again.
  5. 5
You watch from homeLong after your cruise, you get a notification each time your duck reaches somewhere new.

FAQ

Cruise duck questions

Does the person who finds my duck need the app?

They need the free DuckTracks app (iPhone or Android) to claim the duck, read the message you left them, and see its whole journey. Scanning the QR code with any phone camera tells them exactly what to do, and the app takes about a minute to download.

What if there's no Wi-Fi on the ship?

Finders can scan in port or once they're home. Anyone who already has the app can scan without a signal: DuckTracks saves the scan and sends it when the phone is back online.

What's the difference between the QR tag and the neck tag?

The QR tag is a small sticker on the bottom of the duck. It's what gets scanned and what tracks the journey. The neck tag hangs around the duck's neck so finders know it's a DuckTracks duck and what to do next.

What if I already have rubber ducks?

Get a Complete Tag Kit. It has QR tags for the bottom of your ducks and neck tags to go with them. If you just need one or the other, the QR Tag Pack and Neck Tag Pack are sold separately.

How early should I order before my sailing?

We recommend ordering at least 1 to 2 weeks before your sail date.

How many ducks should I bring?

Most cruisers bring 10 to 30 for a week-long sailing. The more you hide, the more fun it gets. Duck Bundles come in 10, 20, and 40 duck sizes.
