Welcome to DuckTracks! We're building a community of duck trackers, adventurers, and friendly people who love watching rubber ducks travel the world. These guidelines help keep DuckTracks a safe, fun, and positive place for everyone.
The short version: Be kind. Be honest. Have fun. Don't be a jerk.
1. Be Kind and Respectful
DuckTracks is a community. Treat other members the way you'd want to be treated.
- Be supportive. Encourage other duck trackers. Celebrate when someone's duck makes it across the country.
- Be patient. Not everyone uses the app the same way. Help new members learn the ropes.
- Disagree respectfully. It's okay to have different opinions. It's not okay to insult, belittle, or attack someone over it.
- No harassment. Do not bully, threaten, stalk, or repeatedly send unwanted messages to anyone. If someone asks you to stop, stop.
- No hate speech. We have zero tolerance for content that attacks people based on their race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other personal characteristic.
2. Share Safely
Your safety matters. Help us keep the community safe.
- Protect your privacy. Don't share your home address, phone number, or other sensitive personal information publicly in posts or comments.
- Protect others' privacy. Don't share someone else's personal information without their permission. No doxxing, ever.
- Location is displayed as city/state only. DuckTracks shows your general area, not your precise location. We designed it this way on purpose to protect your privacy.
- Be careful with photos. Make sure you have the right to share any photos you post. Don't post photos of other people (especially children) without their consent.
- Use blocking. If someone is making you uncomfortable, block them. You can block any user from their profile or from their content.
3. Keep It Legal
This one is straightforward — don't break the law.
- No illegal content or activity of any kind
- No copyright infringement (don't post photos or content you don't own or have permission to use)
- No scams, fraud, or phishing
- No promotion of illegal substances or activities
4. Be Authentic
Be yourself. Honesty builds trust in the community.
- Use your real identity or a genuine persona. Don't impersonate other people, celebrities, brands, or organizations.
- One account per person. Don't create multiple accounts, especially to evade a ban or block.
- No bots or fake accounts. Automated accounts are not allowed.
- No spam. Don't flood the feed with repetitive posts, unsolicited advertising, or irrelevant content.
5. Keep It Appropriate
DuckTracks is for ages 13 and up, and we want to keep it welcoming for a wide audience.
- No sexually explicit content. This includes nudity, pornography, and sexually suggestive material.
- No graphic violence or gore. Keep it family-friendly.
- No promotion of self-harm or dangerous activities.
- Use common sense. If you wouldn't show it to your grandma at Thanksgiving dinner, maybe don't post it on DuckTracks.
6. Respect the Ducks
DuckTracks is about the joy of tracking rubber ducks on their adventures. Keep the duck spirit alive.
- Don't abuse the duck system. Don't create fake scans, manipulate duck journeys, or game the tracking system.
- Be a good duck custodian. If you find a duck, take care of it and pass it along when you're ready.
- Share the adventure. Post fun updates about where your duck has been and where it's going.
7. Report Problems
See something that doesn't belong? Help us keep the community clean.
How to Report
- In the app: Tap the three-dot menu (...) on any post, comment, or photo and select "Report." On comments, you can also long-press to access the report option.
- By email: Send details to support@ducktracks.com with the subject "Content Report."
What Happens After You Report
- Your report is sent to our moderation team
- We review the reported content or behavior
- If it violates our guidelines, we take action (content removal, warning, suspension, or ban)
- We do not disclose the identity of the reporter
Please don't abuse the report system. Filing false or frivolous reports wastes everyone's time and may result in action against your account.
8. What Happens When You Break the Rules
We take violations seriously. Depending on the severity:
| Severity |
Example |
Action |
| Minor |
Mildly inappropriate comment, accidental spam |
Warning and/or content removal |
| Moderate |
Harassment, repeated minor offenses, doxxing attempt |
Content removal + temporary suspension |
| Severe |
Threats of violence, hate speech, illegal content, CSAM |
Immediate permanent ban + law enforcement referral if applicable |
We reserve the right to skip warnings and go straight to suspension or ban for serious violations.
Appeals
Made a mistake? Think we got it wrong? Email support@ducktracks.com with the subject "Moderation Appeal." We'll review your case within 7 business days.
9. A Note from DuckTracks
We built DuckTracks because we love the idea of little rubber ducks traveling the world and connecting people along the way. This community is what makes it special.
We're not here to be the content police — we trust our community to be good to each other. But when someone crosses the line, we'll step in to protect the community we're all building together.
Thanks for being part of DuckTracks. Now go track some ducks!
